Sneak Peek of "Mixing It Up Is Merrier" Day One
This good ol' Texas weather gave us a run for our money on Monday but I wanted to go ahead and try to shoot and in the end the sun popped out and it was lovely...muggy as heck...but lovely. The first day of my "Mixing It Up Is Merrier" shoots went great and I had 3 super cute families! Here's a little sneak peek for now until I can post more.

I Survived My Public Speaking Engagement
I have been in recovery mode this past week after I did my public speaking deput. I did survive and I really tried hard to have fun while I was up there. I met a lot of nice photographers and they told me that I gave them good information and ideas for their business so that makes me feel the best. My hope was that I would give others information that they could take back to their studio and use. Thank goodness LeRoy was there to help me with getting the computer part set up b/c my powerpoint and video weren't working at first. Without either of those my speech would've been 5 minutes. ha! All and all, it was a great experience and I'm still alive...I did NOT have a heart attack which was what I was afraid might happen. :)

Down Syndrome Association Calendar Gala 2009
So, last Saturday night was the Down Syndrome Association of Central Texas Calendar Gala. A yearly calendar is one of their big fund raisers for their association. They pair up a celebrity (sometimes local, sometimes national) with a child with Down Syndrome to represent each month on the calendar. Then, they have this party which is the big release of the calendar and the kids represented in the calendar get to be a star for the night. They had a stretch Hummer drop them off in front, they walk the red carpet and then get announced during the evening. It is absolutely adorable! This was my second year to shoot the gala and I have had the best time mingling with the families and photographing the kids. They are all such sweet, sweet angels and some of them are quite the comedians! If you'd like to donate to DSACT or buy a calendar to help towards their association, you can go to DSACT to do that. Here's some fun photos from the evening...

SWPPA Public Speaker
I'll be out of the office for the next couple of days. I'm heading to Arlington for the Southwest Professional Photographers Association conference. I've been asked by my lab to be a speaker in their booth. I'm going to be speaking on "A Little Bit of This and A Little Bit of That" which covers how I became a photographer, how I've developed my style and some of my marketing ideas. Hopefully, it will all go just fine...wish me luck b/c I am VERY nervous!!!

South Austin S.W.A.T.?
No, just cousins using their imaginations and goin' bananas in my backyard. I had the pleasure of watching my neice and nephew last night and since we are LOVING this weather we spent the majority of it in the backyard. Part of our banana tree fell with all the rain so there was a lot of creativity involved with the broken banana leaves and bananas. Yes, my tree has produced three bundles of bananas this summer...YUM! Sloan broke out the camo gear and then added one of my old black winter hats to it and I'm thinking he looks like a French rapper? Then the boys had to dress the baby up in the camo gear and it was just a hoot watching them play. I absolutely love it! Oh, and in case you can't tell we had pizza for dinner.
